Obama’s Internet power grab nearly complete

US-FCC-AltLogo fcc-usaThe FCC is preparing to vote on so-called “Net Neutrality” rules which would hand basic control over the Internet to FCC bureaucrats.

The massive proposal was only released to FCC commissioners a little over two weeks ago and many of the commissioners are scrambling to make changes to the proposed draft.

The vote is expected to be close so any changes proposed by either of the board’s two Democratic appointees have to be considered.

However, any changes would still leave in place the instrument the FCC is using to take over control of the Internet:

“Clyburn’s changes would leave in place the central and most controversial component of Wheeler’s rules — the notion that broadband Internet service should be reclassified so that it can be treated as a telecommunications service under Title II of the Communications Act, similar to utilities like phone lines.”

In true bureaucratic fashion, the public is the last to know what just happened to them:

“The full text of the rules will not be revealed to the public until after the FCC’s vote on Thursday morning.”

Yes, 5 unelected bureaucrats behind closed doors voting on a massive proposal most of them have only had a couple of weeks to read will determine control over the internet for every American. Democracy in action, folks.
